Kurdish Democrates Initiative in Europa

The last 19th May, a group of sixty members of PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) opposed to the policy of their party, considereing that Öcalan’s attitude in Imrali is dictatorial, especially for his own organisation.

Twenty-eight of them have been arrested by Öcalan’s partisans and imprisonned, while twenty six persons could fled for refuging in the Kurdistan of Irak.

Concerning these facts, an interwiew between Öcalan and his lawyers has been published by the Kurdish newspaper Serxwebûn :

"Öcalan considers his ex-partisans’ actions like crimes. In a situation of war, martial laws should be applied, their crimes are major and the most severe punishment should be applied. And concerning Nasir, (one of the most eminent ex-commanders of PKK, imprisonned by the PKK and determined to do a hunger strike until death), he declared : "This person should be reduced to silence, at the contrary he will harm us a lot."

Öcalan, who is himself condemned to capital punishment by Turkish justice, and who takes profit of an international campaign in the aim to save him from death, condemns himesel very severely his opponents.

The Kurdish Democrates Initiative in Europa (including some ex-members of the PKK who let too this party by reaction against Öcalan’s policy) declares to worry about the situation of these condemned persons. It asks to democratic international organisations to make pressure for saving them and calls European public opinion :

"Since more than one year, driven by the Kurdish community in Europa, the international community mobilizes for the capital punishment pronouced for Abdullah Öcalan by Turkish courts will not be applied and to suppress that inhuman and barbarous punishment like in the European democracies. We can affirm today that our efforts have had results since the Turkish authorities do not dare to execute Öcalan who is becomen a symbol of the Kurdish struggle in all the world.

However, in his mind, the right to live that Öcalan had claimed for himself against historical concessions, does not seem to be recognized for others and he is carrying on to pronounce his opponents’ execution. More than 500 executives or militants of PKK had been executed by order of Öcalan because they did not think lihe him or because or because he defied them because they did not seem so secure.

For in an article of Öcalan, published in Serxwebun in June, he asks that "martial laws be applied for everybody who refuses to assimilate the spirit of the new time ". This order, transmitted with the authorization of the Turkish soldiers who control the Imrali Imrali concerned Faruk Bozkurt, member of the Central Comittee of PKK since more than ten years, and some other ten executives of the organization who are imprisonned since many months in caves, in Northern Irak by the PKK. According to the informations qthat reached us, Faruk Bozkurt makes a hunger strike since 45 days.

In the following part of this text, Öcalan explains how the Kurdish government of Northern Irak and especially Talabani ‘s partisans (PUK : Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) are dangerous for Turkey and asks to the PKK to mobilize its forces for making its oiwn area in Northern Irak and to set in a parliament and a government.

The, we wonder seriously about what kind of democracy and peace Öcalan and his partisans talks all the time ? Would it not be the right for the Turkish authorities to live in peace and making to kill their opponents by Öcalan’s followers ?

We think it is a duty for all European democrates to intervene for saving the life of Faruk Bozkurt and his friends".
