Editorial of september 1999 "The variety of people, languages and believes results from a crossbreeding that strenghens the mankind's unity". Carlos Fuentès, Terra Nostra On the 1st September – that is too the International Day for Peace – we set the Observatoire Franco-Kurde. Its aims are the recognition of Kurds and the application of Human's rights in Turkey. The members of our institution are French, Turks, Kurds. For in human's history, there is an essentiel and persistent struggle : the variety and the choice of cultures, their mixing, against imposed uniformity, totalitarian grisaille. A civilisation is ever made with blending of different colours, and Barbary is ever uniform. So, in the conflict that put Turkey into mourning since the starting of its republic, there will be no victory nor winners without a peace that could be accepted by Turks and Kurds. And because Turkey is front of the European gates, because some millions of Kurds and Turks live in our countries and then are becoming our fellow citizens, we should support them, with legal and legitimate political actions. The MP's, lawyers, journalists and writers who go to their office and don't know if they ever come back from it, but nevertheless go to work, are heroes : the wonderful and defenceless heroes of a daily struggle. Because every is based on silence and censorship, we should bring their message out of frontiers. And that's why the OFK makes a point of seeing and hearing, of speaking and making to speak, in order that Akin Birdal, Murat Bozlak, Ismaïl Besikçi, becomes so famous than Nelson Mandela, and we ask you to support our action. |
